| The
GOA based travel specialists who know GOA better than most, of whom even
the SUNDAY TIMES of London has such nice things to say:
".... those immensely knowledgeable and friendly people at
DAVIDAIR
on the main road at Candolim are the ones to turn to for all your travel
requirements locally..." Honest.
A profile
?
DAVIDAIR
INTERNATIONAL TRAVELS
evolved the day the first
British charter flight passengers landed at Goa. The date was 17th
December 1987 and our David was there to greet them, representing the
pioneer operator, Inspirations East Limited. He then became GSA for the
two Fokker Friendship aircraft the Company based at Goa as India’s
Holiday Airline, to cater mainly to the travel needs of the arriving
charter flight passengers, those who wished to see more of India than
just Goa. A young Goan lady-Emmy Fernandes-joined the firm in those days,
became a Partner then its dynamic Proprietor (she still is) and promptly
changed the name from the "Friendly Fokker" to a more respectable
DAVIDAIR
International Travels. Domestic and International ticketing followed,
so did the highly successful TAJ MAHAL tours. David, a long term resident,
remained its Honorary Consultant with a particular interest in the charters,
marketing and tours. He also researched and authored the internet series
on places of interest in India.
So... G O A ... that tiny
sun-kissed State on the West Coast of India; Indian of course but still
bearing evidence of a long Portuguese occupation. There is much more to
Goa than a hundred kilometers or so of fantastic beaches, some overcrowded,
others bordered by palms and waiting for you to discover. You will have
heard of the flea market, dating back to the flower people who first put
Goa on the tourist map, you will still come across the odd freak, living
in the past and no doubt you have read about the occasional rave parties
that hit the headlines from time to time but are heavily frowned upon
by the local establishment.
Goa is not only that heady brew cashew feni, churches, motor-bike
taxis, fun, port wine, delightfully friendly people, the Carnaval. So
many restaurants, unbelievably low priced, menus of every nationality,
informal food shacks on the beach. Relax there, sure and get a tan. But
do see something of Goa...
You can watch traditional artisans create marvels in jewellery, pottery,
carpets even. Tailors and semstresses will make you a quality suit, copy
a favourite dress for next to nothing and in no time at all. Fishing of
course has been part of Goan life since time immemorial, though nowadays
with the influx of foreign visitors the deep sea off Goa is rapidly becoming
known as a marine challenge. And not far from shore, expect to encounter
some playful dolphins.
Local boatmen will gladly take you on a dolphin spotting excursion or
to meet a mugger crocodile lazing on a river bank. Goa is BIRDWATCHER
and wildlife territory: owls, lapwings, woodpeckers, pipits, trojans,
shrikes, hornbills, ibis. Storks even, and the Kingfisher, that gives
its name to Goa’s popular beer and a flourishing new airline.
Tours, so many of them. Wildlife sanctuaries, the Dudhsagar waterfall.
Temples, the Cathedral and churches of Old Goa, local markets. So much
to do – watersports, surfing, snorkeling, diving, para-sailing, even bungee-jumping
for the over energetic. Or sweet nothing if you wish. Total relaxation,
just soaking up the sun. Ah yes, golf… India has some of the oldest golf
courses in the world. But not Goa, not yet. Someone in authority once
said that golf courses encourage prostitution. We are still trying to
work that one out.

It’s a long way to Goa from Cheltenham, Galliwasted, Ashby-de-la-Zouch
or wherever. You would like to see something of India while you are here.
Of course you can-and should. By car, train, bus or by air.
Maps, itineraries, ADVICE (even for the Do-it-Yourself enthusiast there’s
no charge). And of course we’ll be delighted to do your bookings if you
wish. South India, perhaps. A houseboat in a lazy lagoon, Cochin, the
backwaters, watch the famous Kathakali dancers, go on a tiger safari (you
may shoot with your camera only, these days!). Or of course head North…
to India’s most colourful State-Rajasthan. And Jaipur. And of course,
wonder of wonders..... |
| So
what’s it going to cost... ... .. ?
Nowadays, several domestic airlines fly between Goa and Delhi with fluctuating prices. We constantly check for the best value and this year we have even REDUCED on previous prices. Still, this puts the TAJ MAHAL beyond the holiday budget of many. At the moment, prices start.....
GOA-DELHI-AGRA-DELHI-GOA 2 nights, 3days BY AIR... £ 380
GOA-DELHI-AGRA-JAIPUR-DELHI-GOA 3nights, 4 days (AIR)... £ 425
There is a suggestion ...... Go ONE WAY BY TRAIN ! ! !
For the past few years, several of our Clients have saved considerably by doing the tour partly by train. The Rajdhani Express is one of India's best and thanks to the new konkan Railway Goa is now linked to Delhi, mainly overnight. We will book you 2 TIER air - conditioned and in this class you are provided with freshly laundered bedding and inclusive meals delivered to your compartment. Just as though you had travelled by air, you will be met on arrival by kumar, your chauffeur-guide-companion whose latest model saloon care will be at your disposal for the rest of your trip to the Taj Mahal and back, plus Jaipur and back to Delhi if that's what you wish. By all means we will work out the 'by - train' cost for you.
The TAJ MAHAL IS A MUST!
